ERA Octopus T-Shirt
If you know about the Equal Rights Amendment, this shirt needs little explanation. If we give women rights, it's cOmMuNiSm (see also: Obamacare, gun control, environmental laws).

But the short version is: the Fourteenth Amendment did not originally apply to women (not until Reed v. Reed in 1971 were women formally given equal constitutional rights).

It laid dormant until the early 1970s, then gained a ton of momentum with the rise of feminism, being approved by both houses of Congress, sent to the states, and getting almost all the states it needed on board—only to be derailed by the queen of reactionary supervillains, Phyllis Schlafly.
