Before Earl Warren oversaw the last liberal Supreme Court we're likely to see any time soon, he ran for vice president under Thomas Dewey in 1948 (they lost to Truman). He'd try to run for president himself on the Republican ticket in '52, lost to Ike, but then Ike appointed him to the high court as a (pretty neat) consolation prize. Anyway, this is from the real campaign poster for that ill-fated campaign.
